INTERNATIONAL MINERAL POLICY AND LAW
Mining is one of the world’s leading economic industries and ever essential to human development and sustainability. However many views about mining are frequently wedded to traditional ideas of mining, or based on a very inadequate grasp of mining cycles, traditions and modus operandi of the industry and its impact on society. This is an all-round program suitable for senior government technocrats in the ministries of mines, finance, gender, social and labour, as well as national planning agencies/authorities. The course is also recommended for national human rights bodies, central banks, offices of the auditor general, human rights and commercial lawyers in private practice, government revenue collection agencies, and senior civil society practitioners promoting good governance in the extractive industries sector. The program is structured in two streams. One stream purely focuses on International Mineral Policy; while the other is on International Mineral Law. The two streams share some units. This program is facilitated by oil, gas and mineral practitioners with a wealth of knowledge in policy analysis and practical experience in the industry. We extensively use Visual, Audio, Video-documentary, Modeling exercises and interactive group Case Studies.
